Read this book. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I don’t think you have to be a Christian to get a LOT out of it, but some of my more, um non-Christian friends may be turned off by the heavy use of Christian terminology. This is a book that awakens my sense of wonder, then points at that wonder, and says, “See, isn’t that great? That’s a religious experience.” It can make you feel like something holy and infinitely loving is very, very …

I suddenly realized that there’s been no post to this effect recently, so I thought I’d just quickly mention for those of you who are mainly online friends: Gwen and I finally have a wedding date! fall, demon, fall!

Fuck this low-carb bullshit. I cannot tell you how this pretty much makes my entire month. Gwen and I hate going to the grocery store now because of all the low-carb labels and stickers everywhere: beer, vegetables, water, farm equipment, carpeting, breakfast cereal, breakfast cereal boxes, etc., ad et ultra nauseam. I’ve seen, oh, maybe a dozen fad diets come and go and this one was the worst. I can’t remember anything that’s so totally penetrated every nook and cranny of the marketplace, and for what? …
