anti-abortion victory

Spending Bill Gets Approval - Congress passed the 2005 omnibus spending bill this weekend…and it included a provision that allows “healthcare organizations to refuse to provide abortions and related services.” A few Congressmembers held out in opposition to this provision, but then voted to pass it when promised that this particular provision would be opened for debate next year. However, most agree that these debates (in both chambers) are formalities and no one really expects the provision to be struck.

If any one has any good news relating to this, I’d be delighted to hear it.

reading squirrels

On the walk home from visiting Gwen at her workplace today, I noticed three squirrels, and they were all, well, uh…ok, there’s no polite way to put this: they were grotesquely fat.

So either:
a) these squirrels all have found some repository of lots of fattening foods, or
b) these squirrels are all from the same family and are predisposed toward obesity, or
c) this winter is going to suck.

In other news:
* I have a job interview Friday for an IT support position at MIT. Also still waiting for a callback from Aquent, a placement firm specializing in Mac dudes, …

in case you were wondering

No there haven’t been that many updates here lately, though I have been slightly more regular in posting links over in the Omphalos section of the site. Unemployed, on semi-vacation, drifting….more eventually. Eh.
