identity corrupts

bright light, mediumish city

If you’re like me, and you know you are, you’re one of those Bostonians who’s always known that the color of the light on top of the old John Hancock tower means something, but you’ve never been quite sure what the code is. Well. Friend. Your long agony of ignorance is now about to be put to an end. Just check out this entry at the new The Bostonist website.

Ironically enough, I never would’ve known about the Bostonist website if it wasn’t for loyal Mets fan, NYU graduate, and hard-kor Brooklynite, …

fresh boiled hand

My wife Gwen stayed last night at her folks’ house to spend some time with her mom whose father recently passed away. This morning I checked my email to find this waiting for me, sent by Gwen at about 3:30 AM:

I’m typing this with one hand. as I’ve had a little accident.

After I got off the phone with you, I tried to make dinner. Let me
take you through the play by play:

1. Put ravioli in boiling water.

2. Cut a small piece of cake to have ready for dessert. Have trouble
getting cake out of box. Accidentally …

Magic Pony! has Takashi Murakami postcards. I think this guy might be my favorite artist alive today, if not ever. Me want!

brave new weblog

As you can see, I’ve changed the look, gotten rid of those two silly extraneous weblogs, and made a few other changes. What you may not notice is that I’ve also Made The Leap and upgraded to the new version of the blogging software, Movable Type 3.15. All of this was easy, sometimes surprisingly so. There are of course a few little bugs to iron out and one or two changes still to make here and there, but mostly I’m Done. And it is good.

I’m kinda pooped and still have a lot of email to catch up …

i have a new name

Brightest galactic flash ever detected hits Earth - France surrenders.

I never heard of a magnetar before. I hate when I learn about things only because they’ve been destroyed. Alas, poor magnetar, we hardly knew ye.

Actually, Magnetar would be a cool name. A one-word name like Cher or Bono or Madonna.

Henceforth, I shall be known as MAGNETAR. Let the burnination commence.

well i’ll be jiggered

John, Scot, you’ll be pleased to note that the frameset issue has been dealt with. My URL’s not as cool, but the page behaves much better now!

(I realize this is in response to ancient complaints, but, a) I didn’t realize how easy it was to fix, and b) I had the matter of my wedding to attend to. Thanks for encouraging me to do better!)

titles are for fools!

Big changes are afoot. Sorry there hasn’t been much worth reading here of late. Been busy keeping up with email and making massive changes to the website, hopefully the last ones for a while. I’m looking to move this site, er….off-site. As in host thornography somewhere other than my home computer which is starting to get tired. In preparation for that move, I’m trying to squeeze in all the changes I haven’t been making over the past year. Mostly under-the-counter stuff, but also a few slight cosmetic changes as well. Almost done. …

the weekend so far

Last night was great: went ICE SKATING with some lovely and fun new friends from the new job, and Gwen came too. Having not skated since, oh, I was 10 or 11 years old, I had some catch-up too, but, in the end, I was skating as well as anyone…who’s had severe brain trauma. It isn’t as easy as it looks you know. I didn’t fall down, but I did make heavy use of the Frog Pond wall. Oh, I forgot to mention, it was at the Frog Pond, an old, old feature of Boston Common. …
