Slate Magazine has an article about Richard Nixon’s effort to dispel the public’s perception of him as “cold and crafty.” Among the many gems inside this treasure chest of history are RN’s examples of what a great, warm, caring fellow he actually is (”the calls that I make to people when they are sick, even though they no longer mean anything to anybody”).
